Music Review
If one had to portray Return of the Furies’ music by using a single world, it would be fierce; and this is precisely what we love about them. Watching the girls play it’s easy to see their love of jamming and performing live.
Both their lyrics and music are saturated by an aggressive attitude, lyrics reflect a medley of intense sentiments such as anger, love, and disappointment, far from being pessimistic their sound is strong without being violent. Tracks smoothly move along different musical styles incorporating metal, rock and punk with surprising levels of lead and bass guitar agility.
Tracks such as ‘Alecto’ and ‘Megaera’- named after Greek mythological figures - are vibrant metal lead tracks, the latter feeling more progressive in style. Tracks like ‘Bloody Mary’ drop the pace slightly and show a more humorous side to the band.
The group has recently reformed its original line-up and now features Kat Bax on bass, Jo McDonald on Guitar, Sarah Ellis on Drums and the magnificent vocal performance of Mercedes Diett as lead.
