Biography
Nathalie Miranda is a fresh and exceptionally talented singer/songwriter who spans the genres of soul and pop. Cypriot in origin, she was born and grew up in North London. Music has always been her first love and at an early age she learned to play the flute and piano; the latter has accompanied her throughout her music career. Aside from her formal music education Nathalie also studied French and Spanish making her impressively quad lingual.
Nathalie knew from an early age what the future held for her. Using the remote control or a brush as a microphone, she remembers performing in front of an invisible audience. At the age of 10 she wrote her first song and now has a large collection of self penned tracks. When she was 15 Nathalie took part in a local karaoke night and this turned out to be a formative experience. Later In 1990 she performed live for the first time at the Cyprus Wine Festival and now has an annual slot at this event. Apart from her hectic live gigging schedule, she has also appeared on a popular live TV programme in one of the biggest broadcasting channels in Cyprus.
Nathalie’s leaning towards music as a career was reinforced by her musical heritage, her grandfather was an exceptional violin player and she was surrounded by music from an early age. Being an only child music became a precious companion as she grew up and Nathalie spent hours listening to her family’s record collection including among others Etta James and Aretha Franklin.
Influenced not only by 60’s soul and 80’s artists such as Aerosmith, Bon Jovi, Cher and George Michael her music often references these artists with a modern twist.
Inspiration for Nathalie can be found in music itself, in a good or bad day, in friends, and everything, her songs reflect experiences, relationships, love, friendship, to use a single word, life. Creativity for this musician lies in the excitement of the unknown, which derives from following the tough pathway of the “new” rather than settling for the norm. When speaking to Nathalie it was clear she was naturally a shy person but revealed that the experience of being onstage transformed her, making her feel like a totally different person. Her plans for the immediate future are to rehearse and start gigging with her new funk/soul band, Funk Factor. In addition she aims to work with Simon Cookson – a fellow musician and producer - Nathalie is aiming to reproduce some old favourites and create some fresh material.
