Live Music Review
Frankly speaking, no matter what I say about Kojo’s music – this amazing funk four-piece band – it just doesn’t cover everything! You certainly have to experience it in order to totally grasp it! Here is a flavour of what Kojo’s set felt like at the Marquee Club on the 30th of January.
Kojo’s gig kicked off with our favourite ‘Intergalactelectronic Music’. Chaun on lead vocals, Chris on guitar, Craig on drums and Sol on bass dropped straight into this sexy funk number. Carrying on with the dynamic ‘Let’s Go’, we felt a shift and let ourselves be carried away by the reggae infusions of ‘8 Years Old’. At the end of their set, we followed Kojo’s lead and lounged out with their easy going ‘Lazing by the Swimming Pool’.
The boys are great performers and they know all to well how to successfully work an audience. The band are well rehearsed, fluid and relaxed, this in conjunction with their big stage presence makes for a really enjoyable gig.
Towards the end of the gig I looked over to the opposite side of the stage, the audience were rampant, bouncing around to Kojo’s performance, literally under the spell of their music.
